Fleas are a common problem in Ferntree Gully homes with dogs and cats, and they also show up in homes where pets used to live. Adult fleas on your pets are only a small part of the problem. Most fleas are eggs, larvae and pupae tucked deep in carpet, rugs, floorboard gaps, pet bedding and shaded soil under decks and around sheds.
When you call, tell us about your pets, the floor types in the home and where you are noticing fleas. We give you upfront pricing and book a nearby independent crew who treats fleas in local homes every week. Your pets need their own flea treatment from the vet at the same time, or the problem comes straight back.
- A spray of carpets, rugs and floorboard gaps through the home
- Treatment of pet beds and sleeping areas inside and out
- A spray of shaded yard areas, under decks and around sheds
- Advice on vacuuming and washing before and after the visit
- Guidance on timing with your pet's own flea treatment
Before the visit, vacuum all floors well, including under beds and couches, then empty the vacuum outside. Wash pet bedding and throw rugs in hot water. Pick up clothes, toys and shoes from the floors. People and pets need to stay out until the floors are dry. For about two weeks after, vacuum every day, as this brings young fleas out of their cocoons and onto the treated surfaces.
If anyone at home reacts to bites, ask a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26. Call 03 7053 9848 to book flea treatment in Ferntree Gully.
